Helsinki has been designated the World Design Capital for 2012, and Formex is recognizing this with a design lounge in Stockholmsmässan’s entrance square. The lounge will showcase Finnish design and is being arranged by the Swedish Fashion Council in collaboration with Formex.
The lounge includes objects from exhibitors at Formex and reflects the diversity of Finnish design with everything from glass and ceramics to furniture design. “
Visitors can take a break here in the lounge while simultaneously experiencing the full range of exciting Finnish design. Just like in Helsinki, the lounge will showcase both design classics and interesting newcomers – everything that makes the city such an exciting design destination,” says Lotta Ahlvar at the Swedish Fashion Council. The lounge is called
Moi Moi Helsinki and is a salute from Formex to the Design Capital, Helsinki.
The World Design Capital is designated every other year by the International Council of Societies of Intdustrial Design, a non-profit organization that protects and promotes the interests of the profession of industrial design. Selection is made on the basis of applications, with the winning city chosen for its exceptional promotion of the use of design to develop the city in its entirety. “
Formex is the world’s largest meeting place for the Nordic interior design industry, and this year, as we recognize Finnish design, we continue our creation of the region’s most important meeting place for the entire industry,” concludes Formex Project Manager Chicie Lindgren. Formex will be held from 16-19 August at Stockholmsmässan. Formex is the meeting place for news, business opportunities, trends, knowledge and inspiration. The design fair is held twice a year, attracting more than 900 exhibitors, 26,000 trade visitors and 800 media representatives.
