Poiat studio continues its award-winning production with the sculptural Fiori table that embodies Finnish design. Each handcrafted flower featured in the pieces of furniture manufactured in collaboration with master cabinetmaker Antrei Hartikainen is a unique work of art. “The world of Poiat highlights artisanship, which the Fiori collection encapsulates,” says designer Timo Mikkonen.
“The idea for my floral sculptures was inspired by nature. I’ve been following the way the changing seasons, light and shadow shape the landscape all my life,” Hartikainen describes. “I strive to convey this delicate but forceful metamorphosis in my own material, wood.”
The Fiori collection is designed to complement the Lavitta range originally inspired by a traditional grandfather's garden chair. Also the other pieces in the collection reinterpret traditions. The Lavitta and Fiori collections suit many different types of interiors in private homes and public spaces. The flower sculptures are detachable from their base for the option of creating a smooth table surface.
The Lavitta range was awarded the ‘furniture of the year’ prize at Muoto 2015 gala, and Antrei Hartikainen's sculptural flowers were chosen as finalists at Muoto 2017 gala. In addition to Finland, furniture by Poiat studio is sold in fourteen different countries from the U.S. to Australia, Germany, Switzerland and Japan.
Fiori tables are available in three different sizes (60x60cm, 80x80cm and 130x60cm) and two different heights (25 cm and 30 cm) in solid walnut, oak or ebonized oak.
Fiori will be on display at the London Design Fair on 21-24 September (stand S01)
