The Montserratina bakery project, located in El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona, was created by its owner, the master baker Xavier Elías, who ordered the integral design to CírculoCuadrado, on the occasion of the change of location.

Xavier, was clear about what he wanted. A comfortable and at the same time attractive workspace from inside and outside. He wanted to be able to create, elaborate, exhibit and sell in the same space.

The starting point was an open space with two clearly defined areas: one for the sale and tasting and the other for the elaboration. Once the necessary meters for each function were specified, Xavier worked on the workshop part and we focused on the entire commercial area. We divided it into five spaces connected to each other to facilitate both the work of service and the purchase and tasting.

Entire commercial area

Then, there is a refrigerator area for the bakery exhibition, a cafeteria bar, a central module intended for the candy shop and tea cakes, a practical and flirty wc and finally, next to the entrance, the area of tasting tables.

The entire complex can be seen from the outside, thanks to the enormous glass facade. Here, the lighting, inside and outside, plays a fundamental role, because there is so much transparency, the bakery itself becomes a great showcase and a sweet exhibition.

Inside, several types of materials were combined. For the tasting area and display wall, stained oak wood and white lacquer for walls and displays. White marble for the bar and green ceramic as a corporate color in the counter bar and bar area.

All these natural materials seem to take us to another epoch, evoking the elegant and classic cafes of the great Central European cities. Applied with a new minimalist and modern vision, we conjugated the Monserratine of mid-20th century with the new image of the 21st century.

This is a project visually clean of lines but full of details and as the protagonist, the work of the master Xavier Elias.
