This piece, produced by the Spanish design company, won designer Lucy Kurrein the Homes & Gardens Magazine “Young Designer of the Year” Award
Capdell's Panel lounge chair, by British designer Lucy Kurrein, has won a Design Guild Mark Award in London, recognising design excellence and innovation in furnishings.
This award, granted by The Furniture Makers’ Company, was presented officially as part of the Clerkenwell Design Week in London.
Lucy Kurrein's design philosophy, which combines the rigour of an industrial concept with the warmth that furniture needs, is reflected in Panel, a lounge chair with a steel sheet or bar structure covered in leather or wool.
In Panel, form and comfort come together in the leather or wool surface, meticulously delineated to create a light piece of furniture. The combination of materials and the flat cross-section of the steel structure create a generous amount of space for the seat, making it very comfortable for users.
Panel was recently included in a cutting-edge interior design project by AIG Architects in Kuwait (Nirvana Home), with the Capdell chair contributing its own iconic personality.
Panel's unique design also won designer Lucy Kurrein the Homes&Gardens Magazine Young Designer of the Year Award.
Design is a hallmark of Capdell, which has been producing furniture for more than fifty years and has trusted in top national and international designers to bring its catalogue of furniture to life. All of the pieces are wholly produced in Valencia, combining artisan craftsmanship and advanced technology.
In this regard, Lucy Kurrein is one of the most important emerging designers in the United Kingdom. She set up her own studio in London in 2013, after working at the studios of Matthew Hiltond and PearsonLloyd for several years.
