Part of the lively London Design Festival, designjunction is the flagship show that has grown exponentially in just a few years. For the second year running, Serralunga has decided to take part in the most “à la page” London trade show. The masterpiece of the exhibition is Coast, a generous-sized sofa designed by Sebastian Bergne, who will be giving a speech on 24 September.

Our outdoor collections will be on display in a new location, known as the College, part of Victoria House, in one of the classrooms of the building which up until a few years ago hosted the UK's oldest design school: with art direction by Raffaella Mangiarotti, the masterpiece of the exhibition is Coast, a generous-sized sofa designed by Sebastian Bergne, who will be giving a series of speeches together with Michael Delaney from Yoo Studio and Aitor Albo from Gensler on architects/designers/contractors, on 24 September from 5.30 pm onwards.

The display will include pieces of outdoor furniture that have been part of our history, and which strongly represent the Serralunga vision: “Vas-one” with light by Luisa Bocchietto, “Holly All” vase/seat supersize with the innovative opaque golden finish by Philippe Starck, the curvy “Loop” bench by Christophe Pillet, the capitonné style “Sir Chester” armchair by Matteo Bazzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti, the archetypal “Regista” chairs by Michel Boucquillon, and the “Picnic” standard lamp by Joan Gaspar.

These cult pieces from our catalogue will be accompanied by new 2015 products which blend “poor” materials with strong evocative values with plastic in unexpected and original ways: the “Play.Wood” bench by Ricardo Bello Dia, composed of moveable wooden planks resting on donkeys made from a single block, the “Florida” lamp that combines waterproof fabric and cement by Michel Boucquillon, the “Floret” bud vase in wood or cement and the practical, rechargeable Honey lamp by Raffaella Mangiarotti, the “LouLou” coffee tables with their original slate surface, and lastly the playful, animal-shaped lighting totems called “Pulcino” (chick) and “Doggy”, by Eero Aarnio.

Speech program, 24 September:

5.30 pm Yoo Studio - Michael Delaney - presentation of two Hospitality projects in Lima (Peru) and Guangzhou (China)

6 pm Gensler - Aitor Albo - Doha project presentation

6.30 pm Sebastian Bergne presents the Coast sofa
