The Lap Bench lamp by Spanish design company B.lux has been rewarded the prestigious IF Design Award 2015, which has been recognising excellence in international design for more than 60 years. The Lap Bench lamp was a winner in the Products category, in the Lighting discipline.

Designed by David Abad, the Lap Bench‘s design stands out for its simple and pure lines as well its sustainability. And for good reason: it is equipped with LED or fluorescent bulbs, which help to reduce light pollution. Moreover, its upper structure is covered in tropical bosse wood produced through responsible forestry practices. Its dual functionality also helped this new B.lux lamp to garner the German award.
More than 5,000 products “with the highest levels of design” and from all over the world made up the entries for the 2015 edition of these awards. Just 75 of these products - David Abad's Lap Bench among them - were winners in the different categories.
As a result of the award the Lap Bench outdoor lighting product will be available in the iF Design App contemporary design guide, and will form part of an exhibition beginning 28 February, in the city of Hamburg, within the HafenCity district, on the Hongkongstrasse, No. 6.
The Lap Bench joins the list of B.lux lamps that have received international accolades in recent years, like Jon Santacoloma‘s Kanpazar, and the Olsen decorative collection, designed by Jorge Pensi.
