54th Yecla Furniture Fair closed its doors with an all-time record visitor's registration. During four days of work, more than 3600 professionals have visited the event, representing 2750 companies, all of them interested in the high quality of the product offered by the 130 exhibitors in this edition. Last year, 2700 visitors were registered.
“Companies from the Region of Murcia have been able to adapt to the needs of the sector, which has generated interest in knowing the new products” explains the President of the Executive Committee of the Yecla Furniture Fair and mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño.
The new project “Contract Yecla” has been a salutary lesson, for both the event and the regional sector. Members of international delegations who visited the fair, attracted by the contract sector, have assured that the event has a very high level with products of great quality and very inspiring.
In fact, professional experts in contract from Latin America and Caribbean have established contacts with companies from Yecla in order to work in the equipment of luxury projects in those markets. “Contract Yecla was very well received because companies have a very strong commitment to it, and national and international visitors loved that” explains the director of the event Inmaculada Hernández. “Professionals from Latin American and Caribbean market are willing to replace American products, which are the most used, by products from Yecla, and this is great news for us” concludes Mrs. Hernández.
As every year, the main character of Yecla Furniture Fair has been the internationalisation. In the international meetings frame, coordinated by Murcia's Regional Development Agency, more than 300 business interviews were held. 23 companies from the Region of Murcia and 36 commercial intermediaries, importers, distributors and decision makers from Peru, India, Mexico, Ukraine, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Russia have participated in them. Participants have considered this inverse trade mission as a great opportunity to expand their influence abroad.
So much so, those interviews has been favourable to have 300 more in parallel (apart form the inverse trade mission) where very important agreements have been signed. In total, 600 bilateral meetings, as against 520 held last year.
In the review of this edition, Marcos Ortuño wanted to remind “the announcement of the Regional President, Pedro Antonio Sanchez, about the development of fifty measures to boost innovation, financing and internationalisation for the furniture sector companies”.
As a conclusion, and a challenge for next year, Mr Ortuño has pointed that “the Fair wants to continue to attract prestigious companies that were not present in this edition but they were in the past, something that will contribute to a better event. And also, work together with Murcia's Regional Development Agency to select even better the origin of international delegations that visit us, in order to adjust our exhibitors’ interests”.
