The interior design project was born from the need to expand the ground floor of the house and the complete renovation of the house in Vilassar de Mar (Barcelona). The interior design project has been carried out by the CirculoCuadrado studio, while the expansion has been projected by Tusell architecture studio. CirculoCuadrado studio explains us,
We decided to change the location of the main pieces on the ground floor, bringing the kitchen, dining room and living room closer to the garden, in contact with it. We relocated the staircase, put it aside to visually connect the main entrance with the garden, giving the entrance hall a very important injection of natural light. We placed the living room and dining room parallel to the garden and the kitchen in contact with it, expanding it in space and capacity.
In order to provide more meters to the ground floor, on the rear facade, the Tusell architecture studio, in charge of the expansion, decided to incorporate into the space a metallic volume with straight and forceful lines, very modern and architectural that contrasts with the classic and Mediterraneanstyleof the house. The integration of this piece spatially solves the need that was presented to us as a great challenge. Without doubt, today is one of its hallmarks.
The entrance hall invites us to access the rest of the house, in it we use a large format 120×120 cm porcelain flooring, the Materia Project model that belongs to Casa Dolce Casa brand. The walls are all lined with lacquered panels that hide the different access doors.
At the entrance we designed a wooden cabinet with a retro-illuminated mirror that dresses and completes this area. Parallel to this wall and separating the secondary stair area, we created a large custom designed screen with a wide frame and gray Parsol glass. With this element, we physically separate the staircase but maintain full visibility of the room.
We clad the staircasewith dark stained oak parquet, contrasting with the clarity of the cladding and flooring. The staircase hides a closet and access to the courtesy toilet. The lighting in this area is punctual directed to the paintings on the walls and decorative in the recessed ceiling.
The kitchen is divided into two areas, the cooking area and the breakfast area. In the first area, on one of the walls there is a cooking area with a low unit with doors lacquered in the same sand tones as the rest of the house, of the Gelse brand, the induction hob is from Siemens and the hood belongs to Pando. The worktop in the entire kitchen is the Blanco Larsen model by Inalco. Expanding the lighting in this area, we integrated two Artemide Tolomeo sconces.
On the parallel wall we have all the columns that hide the 90 cm fridge, pantry, oven and microwave. Next, and connecting the kitchen and breakfast area, we include a cabinet for small appliances, again we use oak wood to highlight this piece, so present in the kitchen projects of CirculoCuadrado.
The breakfast area includes a table with capacity for 6 people in contact with a piece of furniture that hides in the kitchen TV. Using a remote control, we operate the mechanism that slides the television up.
Dressing the back wall, we designed a piece of furniture that conceals the radiator and serves as well as a wine display case. The tabletop is made of the same material as the kitchen counter. The Vistosi Futura lamps hanging above the table provide the warmth of decorative lighting.
From any point in the kitchen we enjoy the views of the garden, an essential premise of this project.
The living room-dining room is connected to the kitchen by a sliding door and to the entrance hall by means of a large doorstep. We continue to cover the walls with these lacquered panels which, unfolded along them, become a lateral bookcase.
The living room has a U shape arrangement. A large Goby leather sofa by Grassoler delimits the living room space, on both sides we place two upholstered sofas, all of them dressed by Gastón and Daniela cushions. As a coffee table, Circulocuadrado designs one with a brass structure and a marble top, accompanied by two accessory poufs.
As a television cabinet, we have chosen the Punt Mobles brand, its Malmö model all clad in bronze-colored aluminum sheet. A large carpet gathers all the pieces and defines the space.
The dining room is composed by the Meridiani´s Plinto table with a marble and brass base and a wooden top and the chairs upholstered with fabric by Gastón and Daniela are from the firm Casual Solutions, model Paulina. Bomma´s Umbra lamps hang on the table.
The large stained-glass windows are also dressed in curtains by Gastón and Daniela.
In the courtesy toilet, we opted for covering everything with lacquered panels, except the wall of the sink, which we highlight with some silver glass pieces from the Dune brand, specifically the Cristal Rock Silver model. The gray Shui sink from the brand Cielo placed on an oak countertop and the as well Cielo toilet, top off the room.
The wall-mounted taps are by Cristina Bossini.
Already on the first floor, through the main staircase, decorated and illuminated with Aromas del Campo wall lamps, we enter the hall that distributes the bedrooms.
On this floor we opted for the warmth of the dark-stained oak parquet for the flooring. We cover the walls with the same lacquered panels as on the ground floor, integrating and hiding the access doors of this area. The same shades of sand on the walls are still present.
The main suite welcomes us with the sleeping area, a large headboard up to the ceiling upholstered to measure, a Circulocuadrado design, and some drawers as bedside tables, also designed by the Studio, preside over the room.In front of the bed we designed a wardrobe that meets storage function and accommodates the TV. On the way to the bathroom of the suite we pass through the dressing room, all custom designed in oak wood by Circulocuadrado and illuminated with a warm led strip for good visibility of the garments.
The bathroom of the suite stands out for its huge custom-made Silestone countertop and its large low cabinet that lengthens becoming a bench for the shower area.
The ceramics are from the Caesar brand, in an anthracite gray with silver reliefs. All the taps are by Cristina Bossini.
The youth room is divided into two areas, the sleeping area and the study area. The whole room follows the same criteria as the rest of the house, using the same materials, arranged in different ways.
All the furniture is designed by the Studio and tailored for the needs of this room. Through it we access the bathroom, all covered with Living Ceramics tiles, specifically the 90×90 cm Cava model, in anthracite gray and with the black gasket. The washbasin cabinet is also a piece designed to measure for this bathroom, the retro illuminated mirror provides the dim light of the room. The taps, as in the rest of the bathrooms in the house, are from the Cristina Bossini brand. The shower screen with black profiles is from the Lasser brand.
