Under the slogan of #Revalue, the BDW 2018 will be implementing a comprehensive programme of activities revolving around the idea of taking a fresh look at everything that surrounds us and to rethink poorly sustainable attitudes and models.
The 13th staging of the Barcelona Design Week, which will be held from 5 to 14 June, will see the involvement of the industry's main actors in the city. The FAD (Fostering Arts and Design) and the BCD (Barcelona Design Centre) are for the first time co-organizing the Barcelona Design Week with a double objective: to position it as a major city event and at the same time consolidate its status on the international scene of top design-related events.
This alliance is a convergence of the profession, the talent, the recognition of design excellence and culture provided by the FAD's participation and of enterprise, strategic value in terms of innovation, sustainability and competitiveness as well as the promotion of the BCD city brand. The organization will also involve Barcelona City Hall as the main promoter and the Museu del Disseny as the principal collaborator, contributing its heritage and public dimension together with its dissemination capacity.
The mobilization of the industry, in its quest to share Barcelona's design vitality with the world and the city, enhance its social and economic importance and invite the citizens to experience it, seeks to grow the event and transform it into an unmissable date for the world of design, creativity and innovation. Together for growing.
The Barcelona Design Week 2018 will be a city event staged by the city with a very clear goal: to bring design to people. This will translate into an extensive programme encompassing more than 120 activities open to the city, prominent among them exhibitions, workshops, talks or the Ensayo General, the Dress Rehearsal, but also activities aimed more at the professional public to create business opportunities and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, as is the case with the BDW Congress or the FAD Awards.
Apart from the main activities organised by FAD and BCD, the Barcelona Design Week programme will be completed with BDW City events, a selection of parallel activities organised by companies, professionals, institutions and other agents that will contribute to open the BDW to the city.
