Vitra is a Swiss manufacturer of designer furniture. Creating innovative products and concepts with great designers is the essence of Vitra. They are developed in Switzerland and installed around the world by architects, companies and private users to build inspiring spaces for life, work and shopping, as well as for public areas. With its classics, Vitra represents the innovative design of the 20th century. Today, by combining technical and conceptual experience with the creativity of contemporary designers, Vitra seeks to continue to push the boundaries of design discipline.
During this year's Milan Design Week (from April 17 to 22), Vitra will complement its stand at Salone del Mobile furniture fair with a large installation in the old La Pelota pediment. The installation is curated by the designer Robert Stadler, who changes roles frequently, as objects creator and as a critical observer.

The “Typecasting. An Assembly of Iconic, Forgotten and New Vitra Characters” exhibition is an expansive panorama of projects, products and design studies of Vitra. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the history, present and future of the Swiss furniture company, which sees itself as a cultural-commercial project. In this installation, the perspective of the curator Robert Stadler reveals new connections, narrative threads and possible interpretations of the “Vitra Project“. The installation also focuses on the changes in society and its effect on the established types of furniture. Several designers have been invited to shape their ideas on this subject.
The Vitra Design Museum will be represented in its own section in La Pelota to reveal new and upcoming projects. Vitra's new products will be displayed in parallel at the Salone del Mobile fair.
