Whether for the up-coming Christmas trade or for next spring's, Tendence is the most important German and, indeed, European venue for new products in the consumer-goods sector to be held in the second half of the year. Exhibitors present their highlights at Tendence, so that shops too, can be appropriately filled at Christmas time.

“The visitors get a unique impression of the look and feel of new products for the home, for furnishings and for decoration. Top brands showcase what will be on trend for Christmas and the following spring and offer the specialist retail trade an opportunity to place additional orders for the season that is just starting and even enter into negotiations with respect to orders for 2016,” says Sabine Scharrer, Director of Tendence, with special responsibility for ‘Living’.
For the Scholtissek company, too, Tendence is the most important venue in the second half of the year. “Tendence is a must for us in the autumn. It is the ideal time to place orders for the Christmas and spring trade. It is an excellent way of preparing for the second half of the year. Besides, we meet lots and lots of our regular customers at Tendence, which is why it is such an important platform and meeting place for presenting products and communicating with customers. We reach a large number of customers at the show that we would not otherwise meet,” says Renate Möller.
Rosendahl Copenhagen take advantage of Tendence as an international venue in the second half of the year at which to meet up with their major customers. Charlotte Fly Andersen, Vice President Global Sales and Marketing, observes: “As a Danish manufacturer of designer products for the table, of decorative and gift items, it is very important to get into contact personally with German and international shop owners and buyers. We consider it a privilege to be able to introduce ourselves and our products to the media and to suppliers in this situation too, and to foster existing business relationships.”
Furnishing ideas for the home
In the ‘Living’ product group well-known companies and manufacturers will be showcasing their trends relating to products for the home, to furnishing and decoration, as well as to dining and gourmet treats. Both the established avant-garde and international newcomers to the scene will present a widely varied range of designer accessories for the home and dining table, furniture, lamps, and textiles in the Loft section in Hall 11.1. Brands that have already registered include names such as Alessi, ASA Selection, Eva Solo, Philippi, Reisenthel and Umbra.
Everything in the Interiors & Decoration sections in Halls 8.0 and 9.0 relates to international furnishing ideas, concepts and accessories for the home, home textiles and lamps. Accordingly, for instance, Exotica Cor Mulder, Greengate, House Doctor, Light & Living and Wohnmanufactur Grünberger amongst others, will be showcasing their new products in Hall 8.0. In Hall 9.0, the trade visitors to the show will find exhibitors such as Daff, Fink, Guaxs and Lambert. In addition, Hall 9.0 is the venue for the Talents Modern Crafts display, an area with designs relating to contemporary arts and crafts. For the first time there will also be a ‘Next Modern Crafts’ area in Hall 9.0. Creative craftsmen and women will be presenting their fresh and unusual works and collections.
Everything from artificial flowers and vases, planters and plant tubs to outdoor accessories, festive decorations and picnic equipment - exhibitors in the Seasonal Decoration product group in Hall 8.0 will be demonstrating how to remain on trend for any and every festive occasion. The entire palette of seasonal decoration and floristry requisites can be found on the stands of exhibitors such as DPI, Edelman, Heembloemex, Kaemingk and Kaheku.
Focus on Retail: inspirational complementary programme
Visual-merchandising trainer and successful author, Karin Wahl will, for the fourth time, be presenting some exciting ideas together with valuable tips and tricks for selecting and presenting a range of products and for designing a shop display. The workshops under the heading “Shop-window dressing live” have been especially conceived with the retailer in mind and have been become veritable visitor magnets over the past three years. In Hall 9.2, visitors will learn how a shop window can become a real experience and be turned into an eye-catching and unmistakeable visiting card for their own retail shop.
Appearing for the second time at Tendence, marketing experts from the Retail Academy will be giving retailers some valuable tips about the strategic presentation of goods and the implementation of retail trends to encourage everyday sales at 10 a.m. on 31 August in Hall 9.2. Additionally, on the Sunday and Monday, the Retail Academy will be offering two-hour workshops to explore in more detail relevant topics such as colour, presentation of goods or ground-plan design for the retail shop.
Plants and Christmas are both in focus on the Sunday of the show at 10 a.m., also in Hall 9.2. Current trends and ideas for floral Christmas decorations will be on display under the heading of “Christmas decoration for florists”.
In Galleria 0 the winning products for the Home & Trend Awards will be on display for the entire duration of the trade fair. The winner of the award will be decided by consumers themselves, together with an adjudicating panel of experts. At the same time, the Home & Trend Award will provide help to retailers in getting their bearings as they make their ordering decisions. The LifeCare initiative are presenting, in various categories, this year's on-trend products which focus on quality, innovative function and design. The prize-winning products of the Home and Trend Awards are automatically entered for the EESC European Award for Excellent Design and Sustainability, which is also presented at Tendence.
Concurrent to Tendence: Ecostyle, the trade fair for sustainable lifestyle products
Ecologically acceptable, sustainable and fairly produced items will all be available for buyers to find in Hall 9.2 at Ecostyle, which is held concurrently with Tendence. In 2015, there will again be a dedicated area for creative young talents, where they will present unusual designs and radical new ideas under the ‘sustainability’ label.
Form 2015 - Design from Crafts and Industry
One of the highlights at Tendence is the “Form 2015 - Design from Crafts and Industry” exhibition in Hall 9.0, which presents products selected by the judges in the competition organised by the German Arts & Crafts Association (Bundesverband Kunsthandwerk e.V.) and Messe Frankfurt. Over a period of more than 60 years, the competition, which is the only one to bridge the gap between arts and crafts, on the one hand, and industrial design on the other, has become one of the most famous design awards in Germany.
Prizewinning craft work: the Hessian State Award
It is one of the oldest German State Awards and the one that carries the largest monetary prize of any award for craft work. It has traditionally been presented in Frankfurt, the world's oldest trade-fair venue. At the end of August, three prizewinners will be singled out to receive the Hessian State Award for German Arts & Crafts. The award-winning products will be on show in the ‘Form 2015’ exhibition from Monday 31 August.
