Iberia the most important private aviation company in Spain, has centralised all its offices into the same building in Madrid, located next to the M30 and the exit for Barcelona, in some installations known as the Martínez Villergas Business Park. These new offices are home to around 1000 workers who were previously distributed in different locations around the city, which has provided the company with a reduction in costs in rents and a centralisation of all services and equipment.

These offices are located on the lower and first floor of the main building, previously known as the Philips Building which was home to the headquarters of this company in the capital of madrid. These facilities were built by the architect Gabriel Allende, who was in charge of renovating the old building of 13 floors and building another one at its side, all of which was the property of the Colonial estate agents and totalled 24000 m2.
The Gabriel Allende project has excellent visibility of Madrid and combines the office areas with open spaces, a Mediterranean garden and sport areas including two padel courts and two golf practice booths. The architectural study sought to create a sustainable complex which provided new features, spaces and quality work spaces in comparison to the rest of the business parks in the area. Its excellent location, the connection to the M30 and the Barcelona motorway, with connections to the Madrid-Barajas airport and the centre of town, provides a quality bonus for the workers who have to travel, which also has two bus lines and an underground, as well as a large car park for 375 vehicles.
The architect Gabriel Allende is one of the most important architectural names in the last three years. His architectural studio has been going since 1982 and amongst its well known works The Santillana Foundation, the Aresbank Headquarters, Mongan Stanley, Aguirre Neeman and Santa Lucía stand out, as well as the Hotel Paseo of Art, amongst others. For the interior design of its offices, Gabriel Allende was advised by Actiu using its office furniture, a manufacturing company for solutions of workspaces. For this, the company from Alicante had to house around one thousand executives, managers and commercial people into different work spaces combining open spaces, meeting rooms, executive offices and job positions.
Every company is unique, just like its team. There are no universal solutions that meet all offices. Iberia wanted some modern and renovated installations, with a series of exclusive needs that were previously defined.
The facilities had to be modern and renovated, with hidden cables on each workstation, connection to the internet and light points for each space. All of this with a variety of products and where white was the absolute star of the furniture, with splashes of colour representative of the corporate colour, recently released. To enable the solutions needed, 100 % adjusted to the needs of the customer and to achieve the expected results, the majority of the furniture was manufactured specifically for this project from Actiu Technological Park, located in Castalla.
The first floor of the new Iberia offices combine large open spaces with a cafe area, medical services, private meeting rooms and executive offices. In the open office area the desk program Vital Plus ST has been employed. Following the requirements, it was vital to design a space in which, despite being open, was visually private and with full connectivity to each workstation. For this, quadruple operative positions were created with an electrification system implanted which hides all the cables but maintains immediate access to them.
The desks, painted in white, stand out with the Split desktop screens, manufactured to a specific height and coloured in the corporate colours of the company. In this was, as well as complying with the privatisation of the work stations, they are also decorative and highlight the room with the characteristic shades of the company: red, granite and beige.
The TNK A500 was chosen to accompany these desks, a seductive chair which guarantees ergonomics and comfort for the user and which was awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award in 2012.
This space is accompanied with different lockers and filing areas located in the operative area which was made to measure for this project. For these areas a modular solution was vital for maximum functionality which adapted perfectly to this space. Furthermore, it had to be easy to maintain, clean and for personal use. It conjugates modernity, freshness but also robustness in the same product and achieves the functionality expected. The result was lockers in corporate colours and designed with a locking folding door, whose integrated handle acts as a slot for the postbox.
The cabinets are similar, made to measure with silent sliding doors. Adapted to the height of each space and with finishes in agreement with the interior of the room where it is located; these cabinets include coded locks to avoid the use of keys and standard white handles to offer lighter visual aesthetics.
For the senior executives of the company, the Iberia Board of Directors, two desks were designed made to measure with the capacity of 18 people which furnishes the central council chamber. They are two desk models with very particular characteristics: designed in entirely of melamine with an oak finish, with a lower camouflaged filing area for easy access. Both desks are accompanied by the TNK A500 chair with a most elegant finish in Black Napel.
The speed of manufacturing and distribution that Actiu provided was due to the fact that the Technology Park facilitated the ability to create made to measure solutions for this project and delivered the whole furniture within three weeks. Furthermore, all the desks have specific connectivity solutions applied to each position, thanks to the movement of the table tops and easy access to wiring.
