Internationalization, contract, brands and commitment to the new business model of the industry. Under these assumptions, Feria Valencia will host a new Feria Habitat Valencia event from the 11th to the 14th of February, the leading ‘made in Spain‘ habitat event and in 2014 it evolves coinciding with the celebration of its 50th anniversary.
Therefore Habitat will open together with the other two leading Spanish events in the field of interior design, design and construction: Cevisama and Fimma - Maderalia.
It will be the first time that a fair adds a showcase event of this magnitude. With the incentive posed to the habitat professional in general but especially for the professional of the contract segment. This is a very attractive showcase for national and international prescribers who find an offer from suppliers sufficiently complete for their projects in Valencia. In addition, Feria Habitat Valencia is positioned as a key business platform for the domestic habitat market by offering the professional small and large distribution not only the latest trends but the most relevant market firms and brands.
By itself, Feria Habitat Valencia will bring together over 225 of the best national and international brands in an exhibition area of 25,000 m2. Overall, the 2014 event together with Cevisama and Fimma - Maderalia will be dimensioned in a comprehensive showcase around about 1,400 brands, an exhibition area of 160,000 m2 and a predicted hosting of nearly 100,000 visitors from 140 countries.
A select group of national and international brands
So, Feria Habitat Valencia faces the 2014 event with optimism based on the strength of their project and the reality of big brands that, attracted by the project, have returned to the Habitat showcase. This is the case of firms such as Hurtado, Canella, Ascension Latorre, Point, Grupo Seys and Guadarte, that add to leading brands in their respective segments such as Andreu World, Capdell, Vondom, Ziru, Actiu, Luzifer, Tecni Nova, Lladró, Mariner, Contradictions, Coleccion Alexandra, Joenfa - Skyline, Amboan, Soher, Pico, Ilexpa and Castro Lightings, among many more.
It also highlights the presence in the kitchen field as a world leading brand such as Cosentino-present at the Fair Habitat Valencia supply-or Italian design firms such as Arredo 3 and Fulgor Milano, who will add to others such as Sovet or FIAM. In the field of Nordic design it also includes brands such as HAG or Varier.
A more exporting sector and overturned in contract
All this is a boost to the new Feria Habitat project and the configuration of the fair as a select club of brands with a very active presence in the domestic market but with a marked export profile. Feria Habitat Valencia is, in this sense, the platform chosen by the ‘top’ Spanish companies to strengthen its strategy of internationalization and exportation that is giving such good results, with a 14.3% growth in sales in 2013 in the whole of Spain, a figure that rises to 22.7% in the case of the Valencian Community. Proof of this is that, according to the latest report from the Spanish Observatory of the Furniture Market from the Technological Institute AIDIMA, 63% of Spanish furniture manufacturers’ export.
Also, the Valencia event continues being chosen by the main Spanish brands operating in the contract segment, (furniture and equipment for institutions). This market is becoming increasingly important in the internationalization strategy of Spanish furniture manufacturers because, according to an AIDIMA study, 44% of Spanish furniture exports are made through the contract channel.
Contract: Looking for suppliers for projects in Iraq, Latin America or the Middle East
Evidence, in this sense, of the vocation of business around the contract of Feria Habitat Valencia is the holding within the exhibition and with Cevisama and Fimma - Maderalia from the ‘Contract Business Area’ initiative, a professional meeting based on interviews between exhibitors with a group of international contract prescribers with ongoing projects and in search of new suppliers.
Among prescribers that will be in Valencia next week looking for suppliers include operators such as Mexican Jorge Arditti (best architectural studio in Latin America in 2011), the German architect Jasmine Guhlich, from the BKI studio -AIT 2013 award for best interior design - or the Portuguese architect Ricardo Galego, with high-level residential projects in Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Angola, Ghana and Brazil.
Ramón Isequilla, from the Uruguayan Consortium Punta del Este, with holiday projects in the tourist area of the Southern Cone as well as Nuria Cleries, who represents the Anglo-Iraqi Intercon study and seeks suppliers for projects in the Middle East and especially Iraq, have confirmed their presence.
For these contract meetings they have also added two leading Spanish studies. One will be GCAarq, who in 2010 opened a permanent office in Shanghai to develop international projects located in Asia. Their boss in China, Lluís Escarmís, will be in Valencia next week. On the other hand, the attendance of the architect Xavier Martí has also been confirmed, from the Ferrater study, with projects in the pipeline in Turkey, the Middle East, Brazil and Kazakhstan.
More than 400 VIP buyers from 52 countries confirmed
In addition, over 400 buyers have confirmed their presence next week at Feria Habitat Valencia within the programme of personalized invitations that the exhibition has made for the 2014 event. This is an exclusive listing for international habitat professionals prepared in accordance with the commercial interests of the exhibiting companies and whose members have a common denominator: professionals with high purchasing power and from key considered markets by exhibiting companies.
These buyers are from 52 key strategic markets considered by the exhibiting companies themselves. Of special note is the arrival of buyers from markets that until recently were unknown in the habitat sector and that in recent years have taken a special role such as sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and the European Union. They are all interested in a ‘made in Spain’ habitat increasingly more competitive compared to other European markets and with a high design and contemporary component.
A powerful cultural agenda, ‘See you in Valencia 2014’
A commercial supply from Feria Habitat Valencia adds a complete cultural and art programme both at the Feria Valencia fair grounds and in the city of Valencia. All this has a name: ‘See You in Valencia 2014’. Under this global brand it includes activities related both to Habitat and to Cevisama and Fimma - Maderalia for professionals related to the sectors of interior design, architecture, decoration and design.
In this sense, under this initiative Habitat related activities will be developped such as the consolidated nude Salon, the nursery of young designers where 23 designers and design studios with the most creative ideas will meet. In this field, Agora nude will also be held, with professional design related talks such as Enrique Loewe, Juli Capella and Ramón Esteve. Agora nude will also host various workshops on the trends from the Habitat Trends Observatory (OTH).
Design will have a key role in the planned activites for ‘See You in Valencia’; such as the ‘Bravos’ exhibition, where the vanguard work of 21 Spanish designers will meet and the programming of the ‘Valencia Design Week’, an initiative by the Designers Association of the Valencian Community and that provides, among other activities, a circuit design in the city of Valencia and the ‘From Valencia with Design’ show with the 100 best 100% Valencian designs.
A compulsory event will also be the innovative exhibition from the Designers Association of the Valencian Community ‘Come Casa!’ which is located in the Las Naves space with a sensory experience of interior design through a daily act such as eating bread.
