This year, two new collections signed by Lievore Altherr Molina will figure prominently in the Expormim stand at the Salone del Mobile.Milano: the modular sofa Livit and Falcata table. With them, the company says goodbye to winter and officially starts the expected outodoors season.
When you livit, you luvit!
Its name is a suggestive invitation. You must surrender to its embrace if you want to live it intensely. This is what Livit, the new outdoor sectional sofa by Lievore Altherr Molina Studio, proposes: “A welcoming piece with soft cushions buoyed up by a slender aluminum frame, which balances comfort and lightness with the aim of providing a blithesome relax”.
It seems to levitate, as its name also insinuates, though its shapely and voluptuous silhouette might be delusive at first sight. Something is quite clear, though: it does not give up in the least to that “timeless Mediterranean elegance”, as its own designers define it. A couch especially designed so everyone enjoys “at ease”, thanks to the breadth and carefully studied slant of its arms.
You will inevitably fall for it if you miss those scorching summer afternoons, back in your childhood, when you took a siesta in a hammock protected from the sun by an arbor or when you devoured an adventure novel in an old rocking-chair trying to find the right position to prevent your legs from stiffing. Livit brings back those pleasant sensations, suppressing discomfort and adding sophistication and design. If you live it, then you will surely love it.
Falcata, from ancient Iberia to the Far East
The sinuous silhouette of the table somewhat implies its name recalling a distant past as well as a tradition which is always starting point for innovation. Its legs of injected aluminum seem to flow smoothly just like the distinctive black ink strokes of shodō (Japanese calligraphy) and evoke organic elements either the neck of a crane or the waving stems of reed beds.
Like Japanese letters, its elegance is based upon the balance between simplicity and delicateness. Each of its elements has been carefully studied in order to get a purer aesthetic and a harmonious structure which, however large (it can measure up to 3 metres long), it still feels substantially light.
Just as the Grada collection, Falcata suggests once again a subtle game of perspective where the legs of irregular section play the main role. Despite the variety of sizes, shapes and finishes, its proportion remains unaltered. The same proportion can be found in the accurate fusion of tradition and modernity, expressed through a language which nurtures from collective memory and timelessness.
Highly technological materials and systems converge and get mixed with reminiscences of the animal and plant kingdom, the exotic Japanese culture and the first inhabitants of a land called Iberia, until creating a perfectly homogenous blend and therefore, a unique piece.
