The world's biggest platform for the lighting market in Frankfurt, Light & Building, with just under a year still to go, over 85 percent of exhibition space has already been booked and registrations received from all market leaders. From 30 March to 4 April 2014, around 2,300 companies will present their latest products and innovations for lighting, electrical engineering, home and building automation and software for the construction industry.
The focus of Light+Building 2014 is on energy efficiency in both senses, ecological and economic. The industry presents solutions and technologies that reduce building energy consumption at the same time as increasing comfort levels. The spectrum to be seen covers everything from LED technology, via photovoltaic and electro-mobility, to intelligent electricity usage with smart metering and smart grids. Thanks to its extensive range of lighting, Light+Building is the world's biggest platform for the lighting market - a market characterised by change and dominated by new illuminants. Besides design-oriented technical lighting, Light+Building also presents decorative lighting for private and business premises in all styles and price categories.
Through the combination of lighting and linked building-services technology, the industry offers an integrated spectrum that makes a decisive contribution to exploiting the energy-saving potential of buildings to the full.
Among the main themes covered at Light+Building 2014 will be the future-oriented subject of building and energy management. Real installations in live operation will show how networked buildings can generate, store, distribute and use energy locally. Thus, the ‘Buildings as Power Stations in the Smart Grid’ special show, which was successfully launched by Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with the German Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V. - ZVEI) at Light+Building 2012, will be continued and developed further next year.
This special show is a particularly good practical example of the uses for products from the home and building automation and electrical engineering segments, the mainstays of Light+Building. In this connection, it should be noted that home and building automation is actually part of electrical engineering and a prerequisite for complete building management.
Light+Building 2012 set a sensational visitor record for the fair and exhibition sector. 196,000 visitors came to see the range of products and services offered by over 2,300 manufacturers. Covering an area of 240,000 square metres, the spectrum on show encompassed lighting, electrical engineering, home and building automation and software for the construction industry. The trade visitors of Light+Building include architects, engineers, planners, interior architects, designers, artisans and representatives of trade and industry.
