Under the key theme “Sustainable Gardens” spoga+gafa will from 6 to 8 September 2020 once again be presenting all facets of the garden theme in Cologne. Over the three days, around 2,200 exhibitors from 60 countries will present their new products and innovations for the coming outdoor season to the trade audience on exhibition space spanning 250,000 square metres. In spite of the Corona situation that prevails worldwide, 95 percent of the planned exhibition is already booked. According to the current status, spoga+gafa 2020 is scheduled to take place as planned.

“The fact that we have recorded such a good number of applications comparable to the previous year level in spite of the prevailing situation, indicates that the green industry is optimistic that we will return to the new normality. It is thus our declared aim to open the trade fair on the planned date,” commented Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse GmbH. “The exhibitors are showing high interest in the event. Hence, we feel it is important to hold on to spoga+gafa as a vital platform of the green industry. We will lay down and implement criteria and measures that make this possible.”
Again in 2020: In-depth themes at spoga+gafa
This year's key theme “Sustainable Gardens” is present across all segments of spoga+gafa and will be realised together with the exhibitors in the run up to, during and after the trade fair. Sustainable products and value adding ideas for the needs of the green industry will be developed hereby, for example in the scope of the own sustainable spoga+gafa project garden.
Together the trade fair participants are posing themselves the question as to how sustainable the garden has to be and and whether the expectations of the market players are coherent with those of their customers. Special lectures and product shows as well as theme-specific tours of the grounds and surrounding area to exhibitors that offer sustainable products are the focus of the planning. The key theme “Sustainable Gardens” will be presented in a corresponding in-depth manner in collaboration with exhibitors and experts.
POS Green Solution Islands
The plant trend themes at the point of sale as the focus of the POS Green Solution Islands offer inspiration and clear example of implementation for the campaign surfaces of garden centres and DIY stores. In the process, the theme islands always pick up on a theme of relevance for the end customer relating to the design of his own four walls or garden. As such, they provide a very direct buying impulse for the customer and above all real added value for the trade visitors of spoga+gafa. This year's themes of the POS Green Solution Islands are: “Gardens Close to Nature - Outdoor living”, with a focus on “sustainability”, and “Living Close to Nature - Indoor Gardening” - the garden in the home in times of increasing urbanisation. Stand: Cane-line, Halle 10.2
Innovation, inspiration and impulses in all of the halls
All segments of the garden world will be presented in Halls 1 to 10, on the Central and North Boulevard, the Piazza and the outdoor areas between Halls 6, 7 and 8 in the coming September. The established division into the four segments garden unique, garden living, garden creation & care and garden bbq remains unchanged.
New lifestyle suppliers exhibiting in Cologne
In the traditionally largest product segment of the trade fair, garden living, the largest exhibition of its kind in the world, which encompasses the section of garden furniture and equipment, decoration, sports & games as well as camping & leisure, new exhibitors are also on board in 2020. As before, the segment will be accommodated in Halls 1-4, 5.2, 9 and 10.1. Suppliers of garden furniture and the constantly growing section decoration are the two largest product groups here.
Hall 10.1 welcomes newcomers. Firstly, a network of medium-sized companies from the lifestyle industry is exhibiting at spoga+gafa for the first time (Lifestyle- Island, Stand G 15a). They will be presenting boutique-oriented additional accessories from the outdoor and indoor sections: beautiful gifts, living and cooking. With their participation the high-quality suppliers are addressing the growing group of visitors from department stores and retail chains as well as the international garden centres that are traditionally strongly represented at spoga+gafa. Outdoor Furniture & Decoration Trend Show
In addition to the VIP Lounge, the product segment garden unique is found in Hall 10.2. Here the trade visitors can experience exclusive presentations from the Outdoor Living section. Strong outdoor premium brands and big names for unique, high-quality garden furniture are the focal point here. For the third time already the Outdoor Furniture and Decoration Trend Show, which was extended to include the theme decoration last year, will demonstrate pioneering garden industry design to the international trade visitors.
Based on the global mega trends, the focus here is on future-looking developments for the design of outdoor areas. This year's themes are sustainability, urbanisation, the silver society and individualisation. This edition of the Trend Show will be hosted by brandherm + krumrey interior architecture in conjunction with the Düsseldorf-based agency, BROEKMAN+PARTNER. For the trend show Brandherm (www.b-k-i.de) has put together trailblazing design from among the new products submitted by the exhibitors - products that underline the current trends in the outdoor living furniture and decoration section. BROEKMAN+PARTNER is lending its support in the project planning and is making its international network of design and suppliers available to the trend show.
