Tarruella Trenchs Studio integrates the Arima Hotel in the Miramon Forest of San Sebastián

New interior design project of the award-winning studio inspired by the privileged views over the Miramón forest. They explain us,

The Arima Hotel is located in a privileged area of San Sebastian, next to the Miramon Forest and a few meters away from the Technology Park and the Basque Culinary Center. The hotel is part of the Senso Group, a brand that includes a restaurant, student dorms, a cafeteria, convention rooms, cooking classrooms and a spa-gym, where all these uses share common values based on sustainability and passion for nature.

The main objective of the project for Tarruella Trenchs Studio was to design a timeless hotel in which the views over the Miramon forest were always present.

In the lobby area, the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces is emphasized, by giving continuity to the exterior white stone flooring and the aluminum facade slats that provide warmth to the space through the application of a wooden rear finish.

The dimensions of the lobby required well organized and welcoming spaces. To comply this requirement, two vertical elements were introduced to help organize the spaces. An oak wood bookcase, dyed in a dark tone, holds the reception, where a white marble block of pure lines hold “L” in leather to serve guests.

On the other hand, a massive volume - made in black raw steel with shelves - hides the access to the elevators and stairs, and at the same time, it integrates a fireplace. Across from this element, some stone and wood tables are placed with upholstered chairs that allow to either have a snack or a welcoming cocktail during the check-in process.

In front of the facade facing the forest, low furniture pieces are arranged in a way not to obstruct the views, and decorative lamps placed around leather poufs, generate cozy and versatile spaces enclosed by wool rugs.

Next to the entrance, an interior forest-like arrangement of metal pots protect the co-working space that includes a communal wooden table, of great dimensions, lighted with a raw steel hanging lamp, and having access to internet and a printer. Between the raw steel volume and the facade facing the forest, a wooden meeting table is placed for informal meetings.

In the rooms, a multifunction furniture piece - having pure lines and noble materials - was designed to allow guests to feel at home. The idea of being able to enjoy the views and natural light is reinforced with the specific location of mirrors having raw steel frames.

A black tinted glass volume, that houses both the bathroom and closet, and that has a partial opacity, functions as a lamp and brings natural light to the bathroom. As for the materials, the oak wood floors and the neutral color paint of the bedroom is transformed once reached the bathrooms area, where a large-format porcelain stoneware flooring and Krion wall finishes combine with wooden elements to add coziness to the space.

To conclude, to break the monotony of the long corridors, sculptural light arrangements were created on the wall segments bounded by oak-plated doors.
