The new Objects accessory collection by Fritz Hansen for the Fall-Winter 2018/19 season

The Republic of Fritz Hansen Objects AW18 collection presents something functional, something decorative, something from the archives and something special. For the upcoming gift season, this selection of different designs caters for both great gift ideas and sublime self-indulgence.

Amongst the novelties are the relaunch of the Danish designer Grethe Meyer's subtle and stackable Louise candleholders and the GEO Sculptures, a series of decorative wooden figurines by the Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon. Furthermore, the handmade earthenware collection by Cecilie Manz comes in a new freckled glaze and for the Arne Jacobsen series of cushions, a new Tassel print is introduced.

Discover a medley of earthy tones, long-lasting materials and the perfect mix of old and new in the Fritz Hansen Objects AW18 collection. In stores from October 2018.

LOUISE CANDLEHOLDERS
Designed by: Grethe Meyer, year 1993.

The Louise candleholders are small but significant - much like Grethe Meyer's many other designs. The Danish architect and designer named the candleholders after Louisiana, the museum of modern art located north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Originally the candleholders were made in aluminium, but for this relaunch they come in mirror-polished solid stainless steel with a silver-plated surface. The robustness of the material adds both personality and exclusivity to the candleholders and the mirror polishing creates a beautiful matte surface that will patinate with use. Over time the very even and somewhat cool looking surface will turn warmer and obtain that distinct, almost noble, look of old silver. The Louise candleholders can be polished back to being shiny again at any time. The andleholders can be stacked or styled individually - and they fit both regular candles and tea-light candles. The Louise series is geometrically round but also cylindrical when you stack them. It is pure design with a high functionality. The Louise candleholders come in packages of one and three.

The advanced manufacturing part of the candleholder is the polishing process of the stainless steel before the silver plating, because the surface needs to be perfectly smooth to create a surface without imperfections.

CUSHION TASSEL
Designed by Arne Jacobsen, year 2018

Very few people know that Arne Jacobsen also designed patterns for textiles, and this new Tassel pattern is a perfect example. Irregularities meet beauty in ochre yellow - fit for autumn and for styling the modern living room at home.

This graphic cushion is the successor to the Objects collection's existing cushions in the patterns Vertigo and Trapez. Like those, the new pattern Tassel was originally designed by Arne Jacobsen and they are all characterised by the Danish architect and designer's minimalist appearance. The Tassel cushion has a distinctive pattern created mathematically but with a cosy, irregular look. It comes in an earthy ochre tone that is perfect for autumn and works in combination with other earthy hues. The colour makes the pattern and its shadows come to life in a beautiful, playful and understated manner.

The cushion textile is knitted wool with polyester filling. The inner cushion is FossFlakes™ and is available in the sizes 50×50 cm and 40×60 cm.

GEO SCULPTURES #1 AND #2
Designed by Jaime Hayon, year 2018

The GEO series of wooden sculptures by Jaime Hayon adds an artistic dimension to the living room, the windowsill and the Fritz Hansen Objects collection. The wooden sculptures create a certain atmosphere whilst simultaneously each showing their distinct functionality.

Jaime Hayon is known for bringing playfulness to everything he creates, no matter if it is art, furniture design or decorative objects. The GEO sculptures #1 and #2 are the first wooden sculptures ever produced by the Spanish designer. They are an enchanting, tangible interpretation of the quirky drawings Hayon is known for - drawings that are also found in the artistic throws he created for the Fritz Hansen Objects collection. The two sculptures each tell their own story.

GEO #1 is tall and round and when the tiny hat on top is tipped, the sculpture reveals a tiny built-in vase fit for a single, small flower stem. GEO #2 is geometrically a cylinder with a lid that can be lifted and used to store little belongings like jewellery.

Besides a charming visual appearance made entirely in thermo-treated ash, the craftsmanship behind the geometrical sculptures is quite extraordinary. It takes no less than 16 weeks to produce the wooden sculptures and working towards this unique finish demands meticulous attention and patience.

The thermo treatment is a heat-treating process which involves heating the wood to a temperature of 180-215 °C whilst at the same time protecting it with steam. It is a process which is 100% natural, since no harmful chemicals are added. It increases durability and colours the wood in a golden dark brown tone all the way through.

Measurements: GEO #1: 12×18,4 cm, GEO #2 10,3×15 cm

EARTHENWARE: NEW ROUND VASE AND NEW COLOURS
Designed by: Cecilie Manz, year: 2018

Cecilie Manz's series of Japanese handmade earthenware for Fritz Hansen Objects introduces a special glaze, new colours and a new Round vase. The unique glaze and colours truly underline the craftsmanship that defines Fritz Hansen quality as well as the fascination of and respect for the Japanese ceramics tradition. Like the existing Cecilie Manz earthenware, the new vases are handmade at small potteries in Seto, Japan. They express simple Scandinavian design at its best whilst coming across warm and welcoming.

The new Pale grey glaze has small iron spots which emerge individually during the 1230 °C firing process and visually comes across as little freckles. This glaze is available for the Jar Vase and the new Round vase which is a low and subtle design, perfect for creating an aesthetic still-life at home - with or without flowers. The love for Japan continues in the extraordinary Tenmoku glaze available on the existing Vase in the collection.

The new Tenmoku black, with individual iron marks on the rim which emerge during the firing process. It gives both a raw and elegant look - fit for flowers or simply as a decorative sculpture.
