One of the most important names on the international design scene, Spaniard Jaime Hayon, is the leading figure during this year's edition of Feria Hábitat Valencia, the main Spanish decoration and interior design event held at Feria Valencia until Saturday.
The creator wanted to come to the nude Hall, where young professionals and design students showed him their proposals. This they did with the logical enthusiasm shown when one has the chance to talk about one's ideas with someone considered a genius, a “guru”.
Hayon went from one stand to another to meet all 31 participants in this year's nude edition, and looked keenly at the “fresh and creative nude” pieces. He praised many of the projects, and even gave some advice to young designers as to how to improve their works or to seek alternatives -new functions, new materials, etc.-.
Hayon participates in Feria Hábitat Valencia with a retrospective exhibit of his emblematic pieces which he has created for leading habitat design firms. This exhibit includes some of his highly prestigious products: his “Showtime” home collection, created in collaboration with the firm BD; his “Las Josephines” collection of lamps; Metalarte; his “Cristal Candy Set” collection for Baccarat; his “Piña Armchair” for Magis; or his “Fantasy Collection” for the decorative porcelain firm Lladró, where he has worked as its artistic adviser since 2006.
This exhibition also reflects Hayon's work in other domains. For example, it includes an exhibit of his designs for Camper, for which he has designed not only several concept stores, but also a footwear collection.
In his opinion, although they are extremely diverse pieces, they are interrelated by “a coherent creative language”. “It is a simple exhibit, but it reveals codes to my work and to my identity”, he assures us.
This exhibit can be visited in the central “Flash Hábitat Valencia” Area, where top European avant-garde firms are present in Pavilion 1 of Level 2 at Feria Valencia.
