Feria Hábitat Valencia are still outlining the showcase for their next edition, which will be held from the 9th to the 13th of this coming February in which the spotlight will be on the best national and international design companies. The event has finalised the participation of a significant number of brands, who want to take advantage of these dates to present their first new creations in 2015.
These are largely prestigious Spanish companies at the forefront of design who have individually committed to the future of the made in Spain design, in the only Spanish showcase platform that is well established in this area. They are leading firms with a strong international presence, such as Andreu World, who produce furniture for projects on the five continents; Viccarbe, with designers in their catalogues, such as Monica Armani, John Pawson, Piero Lissoni, Víctor Carrasco, Ramón Úbeda + Otto Canalda or Patricia Urquiola or Capdell, a company that has established an extremely contemporary stylistic evolution. They are all reference companies both in the household channel and in equipment for communities, what is known as the “contract channel”.
In the 2105 edition, Habitat includes leading-edge upholstery companies such as Cármenes, -who is making a debut in the new layout of Feria Hábitat Valencia -, as well as the Barcelona firm outdoor Calma, who will be joined in this section by another brand leader, Point from Alicante, or by the thriving Oi Side, who are returning to Hábitat after their experience in 2010. In lighting, Spanish brands, such as Fambuena or Llum, among others, will provide the avant-garde touch in this sector.
In the area more specifically “contract”, we welcome back firms, such as Cement Design, the Valencian company, Mega, Teys, the office furniture specialists, Made Design by Planning Sisplamo or the innovative companies Cubox and Albiol Modular, who both have a revolutionary system of modular furniture.
Rise in international firms
One of the most notable features of the coming edition of Hábitat will be, on the one hand, the strong increase in the presence of international companies in its showcase, around 25% up on the last edition. This is particularly true for the design sector, where Italian, Portuguese, and Nordic countries have started to adopt positions in light of the gradual recovery of the Spanish market.
This way, the return to the Spanish market of a leading-edge giant in the lighting sector, such as Flos, is a major highlight. Flos will head an Italian delegation of brands such as the specialists in furniture manufactured by rotational moulding, Plust Collection, Elmar Cucine, Olivari, Sovet Italia, Cattelan or Phormalab. Similarly, Hábitat has incorporated new transalpine companies who are debuting in the Feria Hábitat Valencia showcase, such as My Home Collection, the metallic furniture company, Fim or the avant-garde lighting company, Slamp, whose designers include Zaha Hadid or Alessandro Mendini.
Moreover, other international firms will also be taking part in Feria Valencia, such as Branca by Marco Sousa Santos, one of the most potential Portuguese brands from the new Portuguese design sector, or the powerful Swedish company, Gärsnäs, flagship of Nordic design in its purest form.
Many of them will be participating in the Design Pavilion at Feria Hábitat Valencia within the exhibition area ‘Flash’, a hotbed of ideas, trends and innovation concerning top brands in international design. Commitment to the avant-garde and innovation in the coming edition of Hábitat will be rounded off with areas such as salón Nude, in which around 20 young talents and design schools will take part; the new zone ‘Editoras by Feria Hábitat Valencia’, which is an exhibition area with a selection of publishing companies that have been going for less than ten years and are committed to “self-production”.
