Interior design studio Margeza shows us its new wonder in the heart of Budapest

Margit and Geza are a couple of designers, Belgian citizens of Hungarian origin, who live near the Belgian-Luxembourg border and who have created Margeza, an interior design studio

Geza, the husband, worked for the EU Court of Justice (librarian) and in his free time he was the curator of contemporary art exhibitions in Luxembourg.

Margit, the wife, was originally a biologist; she acquired her second diploma from the University of Crafts in Budapest.

They are passionate about their work and mutual creation. It is important for them to design spaces with good energies, spaces where one wakes up with good humor.

The building is located in the historical center of Budapest, near the Buda Castle. It was built in 1928, for a family. Later, it was divided into 4 apartments, and then, with the conditioning of the attic, two more were added.

There is a small garden attached to the building. The most beautiful view of the city is available here. It was a primary consideration to show this.

One of the iconic buildings of Budapest, the Parliament and the river that divides the city are in sight, the two designers wanted to emphasize this. The parliament is visible even from the bathroom.

The two designers found their own style. Many people said and wrote that they can recognize their apartments. They like a minimalist design, but the softer version is more pleasing to them.
His spirit is reflected in his apartments. They do not have to confirm any rules. For example: curving furniture and walls, and animating it with bright colors, spaces with irregular shapes ... joy.

In the living room there are two elements that define it: the living green wall, which brings nature to the apartment, and the glass wall, which shows the city. All the walls of the floor are white; There's too much light. Small dots of color make it energetic, animated. (The green wall in the living room is fed by an automatic irrigation system).

The window is made of triple-layer safety glass. The bench in front of the window rests on glass legs. The two yellow armchairs are Italian designs from the 80s (Girotonda).

The white wool carpet that decorates the living room is a unique item, designed by the wife specifically for this apartment. It shows a map of Budapest, with the different districts represented with different lengths of wool. In the middle, the river that crosses the city, the Danube, is in blue. In it there is a small red dot, marking the location of the floor itself: It is called “Budapest. You are here“.

The kitchen surrounds the fireplace like a peninsula. The cupboards under the stairs have kitchen appliances and storage space (washing machine, wine cooler and microwave). Each electrical device was chosen to minimize the consumption of electricity. For the same reason, they use LED lights everywhere. The countertop in the kitchen and the stairs are made of Corian. The stairs were designed by the couple, as well as the kitchen and furniture, which were made to measure by a carpenter. The doors were manufactured in a similar way.

The dining room is composed of a Leolux table, surrounded by Kartell chairs like the petals of a flower. The arched windows were a fact, but previously they had many small window panels with dividers that broke the view held up and down by anchors, so there are no dividing lines to take away the view of the beautiful park that you see through them. It is rare that a loft apartment has a view of a park, but because of the hill, this is the case here. There is no need for curtains!

The “floating” bed and the curved dresser in the lower floor bedroom were designed by them as well. The red radiator brings dynamism and energy to the attached white bath. The giant mirror expands the space.

There are two terraces attached to the apartment, which makes this place even more extraordinary, and a panoramic view of approximately 200 degrees to enjoy. Having a breakfast with the rising sun or drinking a glass of wine with friends at night are equally exceptional experiences.
