Bonaldo rounds off 2020 by winning three major awards which reaffirm once more the company's international success: Geometric Table wins the GOOD DESIGN® Award 2020, Cross Table receives the Best of Year Awards 2020, and Circus Table is awarded with the Archiproducts Design Awards 2020.
Designed by Alain Gilles, was selected by the Chicago Athenaeum - Museum of Architecture and Design - in partnership with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies, which have granted it the GOOD DESIGN® Award 2020 in the “Furniture” category. The GOOD DESIGN® Award, established in 1950, is one of the most widely recognised prizes at an international level dedicated to design.
Summing up significant stylistic and material research, “Geometric Table” is a transforming shape-shifting table that plays on perspective, looking different depending on the point of view. Its concept is based on chameleon-like silhouettes, starting with the base: its four legs with drop-shaped feet appear either thick or sharp and thin, playing together to offer a different perception of their visual weight as you walk around the table, with an impressive scenic yet slender and graceful presence, given by its rounded shapes. The table is available also in a special clay hand finished spatula effect which lends the item a sculptural look.
Created at the hands of Alain Gilles, is the winner of the Best of Year Awards 2020 in the “Residential Dining Tables” category. The Best of Year award, organised by the prestigious American magazine Interior Design, has been recognising the best design projects for 15 years, with submissions originating from all across the world.
“Cross Table” is the synthesis of the cross combination of three essential elements (top, metal structure and base) that, in a refined combination, offer an evocative scenic effect. The top of the Cross Table rests only on a thin structure, but it is the wooden base in the shape of a cross that gives the table its solidity and structural force. The design of the table offers a collective vision where the role of each element emerges in relation to the others in an appealing contrast between straight lines and soft curves, between masculinity and femininity. Three different and distinct elements composing the table offer the possibility of creating various combinations of finishes and colours, from the most original to the most understated ones, for a highly customisable complement.
Designed for Bonaldo by Fabrice Berrux, has been given the Archiproducts Design Awards 2020 in the “Furniture” category. The jury selected Circus for its concept and design which make it a table with strong decorative appeal.
The Circus Table draws on the laws of physics for its contrast of quite different geometric shapes. A large disc-shaped top is on top of the impressive and scenic central base, evoking a pleasant sensation of movement. The table acquires strength and elegance in a unique balancing act, becoming the real protagonist of the living area.
With these three awards, Bonaldo's role as a global producer and exporter of Made in Italy products is increasingly strengthened. Over Bonaldo's 80 year history, the company has indeed gained an international audience by offering a range of products that combine formal and technological research with a high level of design.
