Spanish designer based in Milan, Patricia Urquiola, has designed the new luxury hotel, Il Sereno, which will open this summer on the famous Como Lake in Italy.
Fontanot proves itself once again as a partner of excellence for great international projects. After having supplied the stairs for three important projects in Milan (Bosco Verticale, Allianz Tower e Unicredit Pavillon), the company is landing on the shores of the lake in Como, among the most loved destination of tourists from around the world, in the prestigious hotel “Il Sereno” that will be inaugurated in the summer of 2016.
The contemporary structure designed by Patricia Urquiola includes an entirely custom made Fontanot staircase. Fabio Curcio Valentini with his firm CVHP is also taking part in the project, and he is in charge of project management and site management.
In the majestic lobby, the Fontanot staircase in precious American walnut, blends harmoniously with the interior decor, giving the touch of excellence for which the Italian company is famous.
Another Fontanot custom made staircase was also created for this project: a LaFont custom staircase, which, placed next to the elevator, connects the various floors of the precious structure.
The “Il Sereno” hotel has been selected by some of the most valued international newspapers - The New York Times, Forbes, New York Post and The Times - as one of the 25 best hotels in the world to visit in 2016.
Thanks to its privileged position between the lake and the mountains, the architecture ensures a stunning view and fits perfectly in the territory, exalting its natural beauty. The sober design and the personalized service of the space, became a source of inspiration in the choice of the materials: wood and stone are the protagonists, along with copper and textiles; the project represents a true oasis of relaxation, offering many exclusive comforts, like the small Ernesto Riva fleet, exclusively for “Il Sereno.”
