Emeco launched the Run Collection designed by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin, founders of the design office Industrial Facility in London, at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2016.
As a chair company, Emeco has often been asked about tables that fit their different seating collections and reflect their values - tables that are timeless, made of responsibly selected, sustainable materials, right for use and engineered to last. Sam Hecht and Kim Colin, designers of the simple and nononsense, have made their first collaboration with Emeco to satisfy a multitude of uses at home, for hospitality or in the workplace.
FOR ONE AND FOR ALL
When Emeco began working with Sam Hecht and Kim Colin, they talked about creating a furniture collection that brings people together, to suit the way we would like to eat, study, play and work, whether indoors or out. The result is Run - a collection of tables, benches and shelves, inspired by the collective congenial atmosphere around public furniture like canteen tables, park benches and library shelves. Like these, Run feels natural for one to use and many to share.
“Run effortlessly finds balance in both indoor and outdoor landscapes suited for meeting, eating, learning, sharing and working. Run is shaped to acknowledge the benefits of being around others, so tables are welcoming and useful, made to work purposefully well with many of Emeco's existing chairs and stools, including the original Navy Chair.” Sam Hecht, Industrial Facility, London.
LONG-SHORT; HIGH-LOW; IN-OUT
Run can be used indoors or out, with lengths between 2400mm and 830mm, in sitting or standing heights. The collection has a restrained materials palette: Structural elements are made of extruded, non-corroding recycled aluminium in either natural or powder coated black. Plank surfaces are available in anodized aluminum, suitable for use both indoor and outdoors, or 3 types of responsibly harvested wood. Cedar is suitable for outdoor use; ash and walnut for indoor use. Wood planks are made by Amish craftsmen in nearby Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
“With Run, Sam Hecht and Kim Colin have designed a collection of “pure utility.” Whether long or short, high or low, inside or outside, Run is a system that provides an architect or designer an adaptable tool that works for any application.” Gregg Buchbinder, CEO, Emeco.
