Just announced the shortlist of the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2018, we find the Samaná in the “European Restaurant” category, a restaurant in A Coruña with Dominican essence designed by Mas Arquitectura. In this post, the studio details us some aspects of this unique local.
Right in the heart of the city of A Coruña, an old crêperie has given way to a tropical gale coming from the Dominican Republic. The coastal province of Samaná has permeated every corner of the space: basketry chairs, vines and lighting that attenuates our stay to enjoy both a good cocktail in the lounge bar and a plate of its varied cuisine.
Samaná, which undoubtedly has a strong identity of its own, has had a great reception in the city. This is due to the union of the design of mas·architectura, based on its values of giving life to each of its projects and developing each detail with the love and dedication that they deserve; and the great cuisine of the place, which mixes flavors exotic with grilled meats and highest quality fresh fish, accompanying them with elaborate cocktails.
In short, this place will transport visitors directly to the other side of the ocean without leaving the city, as it is a place designed and developed so that visitors can enjoy everything that surrounds them, from the distribution of space to the careful decoration, passing of course for the quality of the raw materials with which you work in the kitchen.
